My first time visiting Arhaus, pronounced "our house". I think I've always been intimidated by this retailer, but it wasn't till I saw a couple pieces in homes and started receiving their catalogues, I decided I wanted to make a visit. I happen to be in the area, so why not...I decided to stop in, and there were so many pieces I loved. If I didn't already have a fabulous piece from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, I probably would look here for a big piece for the living room. I really liked the outdoor furniture as well...maybe later. We're doing way too much purchasing at the moment, so for now, I just want to get that one pillow to finish my master bedroom decor, which is the white fluffy pillow in the fourth shot above. Real Sheep's fur, they said, $104.
My first mobile starbucks order, didn't even have to wait in that long line, and it even has my name on it! Love it!
Finally...my new camera is in! This is now my 5th Nikon camera in the last 6 years. Wow, that's a lot! One of those cameras I lost on a United airplane and of course they "couldn't find it"...sorry I'm not bitter...so anyways, really I've gone through 4 upgrades. This new one should hold up for a few years, I'm hoping. Well, I've tested it out and the image above is the result of my all day tinkering. Thank you all for being patient with my less than impressive photos the last couple of months and probably another few posts till I get the settings right. I did sell my last lens and upgraded to a new one as well. I'm excited, can't wait to take some photos!
They're a lot larger than I expected, but so comfy and the babes seem to like them! Got them from Petco on sale, and free shipping!
A new furniture company competitive with Ikea and made with high quality materials, easy to assemble, no tools necessary and most importantly, stylish with great design qualities! Check them out, Greycork!
Target is so awesome! Seriously, they have the cutest things! Look at these awesome affordable pieces that are really stylish and chic!
Not bad, cute, a tad expensive but not too shabby. We had to do 2 emergency trips this week to the grocery store and though they don't have the typical things we buy, I prefer it over Walmart! I assumed it would like Trader Joe's and though it kind of does, it's better. Nice option!
I was that single girl...for the longest time…that doesn't cook, defintely doesn't garden, nor does any of those home making activities. Then that single girl got married and then she started helping to cook dinner, now is the sole cook, and she's also picking up gardening supplies…next thing you know she'll be having a baby...eeks!
Ok so back to gardening. I think most girls, in the back of their minds, think gardening sounds like a cool, nice idea. But first it becomes a matter of life stage, time, then location and resources. Finally when that girl gets a chance, she has no idea where to start. That would be me. Unlike a lot of women in my stage of life, I happen to have a mom with a big piece of land and huge herb and vegetable garden. She occasionally brings me garlic, cucumbers, leafy greens, so I should be ahead of the curve, but I'm not.
So here I am, with the help of Buchanan's Nursery, a little research, and little extra time venturing into my possible new hobby, gardening? Not a big garden, but a little garden, you know for those herbs and other greens you put in a salad… a small garden. I want a really cute one too, that has a nice little set up in the backyard, not one that overtakes it, requiring a huge commitment, just a small little thing that is functional and makes the backyard look a little nicer. I need mobility too, transferrability...because I haven't committed to a look for my backyard yet.
I have already set the groundwork and cleaned up the backyard for a nice, decent space for my little herb garden set in boxes, that's the idea at least. I have already done a little bit of research and looked at plenty of pictures on Pinterest and houzz. So now I am sharing my gardening journeying.
So here I finally am, officially at Buchanan's Nursery on 11th St. I have an idea of what I want, but it's so hard to find exactly what you picture in your head. I've done so much research and haven't quite seen what I really like, so I'm just going to wing it and put some things together and see how it turns out. I have learned that the key to making a space look good is to actually complete the look. When you're starting out little by little it doesn't really take shape until you really finish it. So here I go...where I started, where I shopped, what I saw, what I purchased and actually putting it together and then the final look. This is just the beginning...
Oh my gosh, this was not easy! I know it doesn't look like much, but holy cow did it take a lot of work! I purchased these tin looking plastic buckets, $60 each. I got basil, japalenos, parsely, rosemary, lavender, bay leaves and mint all about $4 each. I also purchased Landscaper's Pride potting soil, at the recommendation of Buchanan's retired engineer herbs expert, $4 each! It took about 1 bag of soil per bucket.
I'm not totally in love with this look, thankfully everything is moveable. I think instead I would like to grow some vines off of this wall. But, I also would like some patio furniture on this side of the backyard, so I still have a lot of planning to do. I will keep you posted on my gardening journey, but for now, I have a little herb garden!
Yeah, it's the big one in Post Oak Blvd. You know, next to all my favorites, True Food Kitchen, North Italia, etc. I'm finally visiting and wow, what a beautiful store! Knocked my socks off! Decorated slightly differently than the typical WFM. They have a brewery and bar, huge departments, and love this shopping cart escalator. They also have these cool lights over the parking spots downstairs, green for available, red for occupied. Smart!
I wanted to post an update on the actual chocolates. I ordered the set of 12 and realized they're really not chocolates, at least most of the ones I chose. I thought they would be most chocolate with hints of these tropical flavors, but no...they tasted more like gooey candies. I think if I knew what to expect I would have enjoyed them more. I purchased them for Matt and I to enjoy together but after a few he didn't want anymore. I have to agree, they were so so for me as well. The actual chocolate pieces I chose were probably the best out of the bunch. Now I know.
What is this? Who is this? Well, this morning, this line had everyone's attention in Highland Village! All wondering what new gadget was being unveiled at the Apple store and even for Apple it seemed like an absurdly long line. This line started to catch eyes at Walgreens and wrapped around to West Elm, past Z Gallerie, Banana Republic, Victoria's Secret, and next to James Avery it surprisingly ended at a shop I've never seen called Lush Cosmetics. There, there was a girl named Rachel "Bunny" Meyer who is apparently the highest earning vlogger with over $463,000 of earnings last year. So it's not Apple, but this vlogger who commands this ridiculous never ending line of tween followers.
The good kind too, at Lowe's!
I had posted this event on my monthly Soo & the City Newsletter and my friend, Janice , reached out and said she wanted to do it! So, we made plans to do it this past Saturday, she came over, and we drove to the meet point at Market Square in downtown. It was a pretty large group, maybe 50 people? It's hot out, but it was actually fun! I took my little Lily and learned they don't allow dogs to roam the market, so I had to tie her up and have Revival Market watch her, which they so nicely offered to do. I would definitely do it again, loved loved it! Next one is September 14th, 8am.
Our first bark box giveaway to Ryan Baker! He looks so happy, haha. If you too would like our next barkbox, just leave us a comment and it's yours!
As you can see the pups love it! Especially the chews! What is it? It's a box full of treats, chews, new products and toys that comes once a month. I figured it would be something fun for the dogs, so I went ahead and ordered it as soon as I heard about it. My box is only $19/month and I figured if it comes to be too much, I could always give it as a gift to my followers. If you have a pet and would like to sample or see what one of these boxes are like, post here and the next one that comes in is yours! This service is not in Houston, but from Brooklyn, NY and you know...not matter where the location, I always support great, fun ideas!

I was very excited to visit, it's a great place, food was great, one of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had, and the staff was great! Tip, do go upstairs. There is a full restaurant, outdoor patio, and bar!
